A message from the QSNAPS team
Welcome Back to QSNAPS
Dear QSNAPS Community,
We are writing with exciting news — and with deep gratitude. After a period of uncertainty, we are thrilled to share that federal funding for QSNAPS has been restored. This would not have been possible without the continued support, patience, and dedication of our participants, partners, and community. Thank you. Your commitment to this work means everything to us.
With funding secured, we are moving forward with Wave 4 of QSNAPS, launching Summer 2026. Wave 4 will continue our longitudinal work exploring the health, aging experiences, and social relationships of midlife and older LGBTQ+ adults across the United States. If you are a current participant, keep an eye on your inbox — your invitation to complete the Wave 4 survey will be arriving soon.
We are also beginning new recruitment for a small sample of participants to join QSNAPS. Over the years, we have lost some members of our community — to life changes, health challenges, and other circumstances — and we want to ensure our sample continues to reflect the full breadth of LGBTQ+ aging experiences. If you know someone who might be interested, please share this study with them.
To be eligible, prospective participants must be 50 years of age or older and identify as LGBTQ+. If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about participating, please reach out — we would love to hear from you. Study availability varies by state of residence.
With gratitude,
The QSNAPS Research Team

About QSNAPS
The LGBTQ+ Social Networks, Aging, and Policy Study — QSNAPS — seeks to understand the health, aging, and social relationships of midlife and older lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming adults across the United States. Unlike some other studies, QSNAPS is comprised entirely of LGBTQ+ people to better understand aging experiences in our own communities and more fully represent differences in experience, health, and aging trajectories across our many identities and life trajectories. With the information from QSNAPS participants, we aim to better identify the sources of stress and resilience for LGBTQ+ people, and the ways that members of our community thrive, connect to others, and respond to life events. We have also been able to expand the study to include collection of biological data, like blood and DNA, through our BioAge and Cognitive Games extensions.
